Low Cost Aerial Delivery Systems

LCADS

Developed and certified by NATICK US Army Labs, the Low Cost Aerial Delivery System (LCADS) is a lower cost alternative to the A-22 Container Delivery System (CDS), specifically intended for missions when recovery or re-use of the delivery system is unlikely. The LCADS design features lower cost polypropylene material instead of typical nylon material and features construction methods specifically designed to enable procurement of this system from numerous manufacturing sources outside the normal parachute manufacturing industry.

While the LCADS was designed for one time use, LCADS which can be recovered and which do not have any obvious visible signs of damage can be repacked for more than one use.  MMIST is proud to offer both High Velocity and Low Velocity LCADS products to complement its aerial delivery product line.

Cost Effective Solutions for Aerial Delivery

  • Cost-Effective: LCADS offers a budget-friendly alternative for single-use aerial delivery systems, utilizing lower-cost polypropylene instead of the conventional nylon used in traditional parachutes (such as G12 parachutes), significantly reducing cost.
  • Single Use: Ideal for situations where retrieving the delivery system is impractical, LCADS ensures efficient use of resources with its single-use design.
  • Versatile Applications: Suitable for a wide range of missions, including humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and military operations; LCADS can support suspended loads ranging from 500 to 2,200 lbs.
  • Simplified Integration: LCADS are delivered pre-packed, with simplified instructions for payload rigging, significantly reducing the time and effort needed for systems to be ready for airdrop from cargo aircraft, including C130, AN12 and IL76.
  • High Velocity and Low Velocity Options: LCADS are available in both high and low velocity types, allowing them to be used for a variety of mission types.
  • Turnkey Campaigns: MMIST is an experienced provider of full, turn-key aerial delivery services using LCADS, which includes rigging, training, mission planning, and execution of aerial delivery campaigns.

Low Velocity LCADS

The Low Velocity Low Cost Aerial Delivery System offers a cost-effective, single-use solution for airdrop missions, where low-altitude airdrops are needed. LV LCADS can be used to delivery up to 2200 lbs of certain types of robust supplies when deployment altitudes are limited to 13,000 ft MSL or below.

  • Suspended Load: 500-2,200 lbs
  • Deployment Altitude: 750 ft AGL – 13,000 ft MSL
  • Typical Descent Rate: 30 feet per second
  • Certified Deployment Speed: 0-150 KIAS (Knots Indicated Airspeed)
  • Container Compatibility: Low Cost Container (LCC) and A22

MMIST can supply LV LCADS as a complete system, or key components based on customer requirements.

High Velocity LCADS

The High Velocity Low Cost Aerial Delivery System offers a high-altitude aerial delivery solution. HV LCADS have smaller parachutes, making the less susceptible to wind and a practical choice for scenarios where low-altitude airdrops are impractical or too risky. HV LCADS can be used to delivery up to 2200 lbs of robust supplies when deployment altitudes are not limited.

  • Suspended Load: 500-2,200 lbs
  • Deployment Altitude: 3,000 ft AGL – 25,000 ft MSL
  • Typical Descent Rate: 60-90 feet per second
  • Certified Deployment Speed: 0-150 KIAS (Knots Indicated Airspeed)
  • Container Compatibility: Low Cost Container (LCC) and A22

MMIST can supply HV LCADS as a complete system, or key components based on customer requirements.
