Elevate your atmospheric forecast using MMIST’s Drop Sonde data collection system – an advanced consumable atmospheric data sensor. Engineered for precision and reliability, Drop Sondes deliver accurate measurements of wind speed, direction and other atmospheric data from flight level to the earth’s surface.
As the sonde descends (at approximately 25 m/s or 5000 ft/min), it uses GPS satellite data to determine its location while tracking horizontal winds, transmitting its GPS coordinates to a receiver on the airplane or on the ground. The data received is used to calculate the wind speed and direction, and can be integrated into mission planning tools, including MMIST’s LaunchPADS™ Mission Manager, providing the most accurate and up-to-date wind and atmospheric data for your operations.

The Drop Sonde system enables real-time wind data and atmospheric data collection for enhanced release point planning, allowing aircrews to improve aerial delivery and insertion accuracy.
Drop Sondes transmit current, measured wind and atmospheric data, which can be uploaded into the LaunchPADS™ Mission Manager Wind Sonde Module to provide the most current wind information to optimize and dynamically adjust Calculated Air Release Points (CARP) for precise aerial delivery missions.
Drops Sondes can also offer a direct link from the Base Station to SkyLink™ over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to provide real time data to jumpers
